Project/Department Description

This initiative aims to bolster Norway’s role as a reliable, long-term supplier of low-emission gas, ensuring job security in Hammerfest and energy supplies to Europe. It encompasses two developments: Onshore Compression and Electrification, both designed to reduce emissions and extend the field’s operational life.

Task and Responsibilities

The Field Engineer will oversee construction activities related to surface protection and passive fire protection (PFP), ensuring they are planned, qualified, performed, and documented according to contract specifications with a strong emphasis on cost efficiency. Reporting to the Construction team, the Field Engineer will collaborate with the Project Material Lead Engineer, who is responsible for decisions within the discipline. Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the contractor’s fabrication activities in surface protection and PFP, focusing on quality, schedule, cost efficiency, and HSE.
  • Tracking work progress against plans and schedules, identifying areas of concern, and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Participating in engineering and construction reviews to ensure a feasible and cost-efficient construction outcome.
  • Verifying that the contractor’s site personnel meet project qualification requirements.
  • Supervising site team inspectors.
  • Planning and participating in audits and verifications as required.
  • Ensuring all necessary procedure qualifications are completed.
  • Reviewing selected drawings and documents issued by the contractor.
  • Contributing to decisions within the discipline (e.g., NCRs, TQs, design issues).
  • Ensuring systems and equipment are adequately protected and preserved.
  • Making sure the contractor issues fabrication documentation in compliance with requirements.
  • Confirming all necessary fabrication records are prepared.
  • Reporting deviations and highlighting problem areas to the Construction lead.
  • Ensuring completion for handover to commissioning and participating in area/system punch-out as required while monitoring status.

Competence Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of documented experience in a similar position on previous projects.
  • Frosio Level 3 in coating or equivalent.
  • Strong focus on SSU (Safety, Security, and the Environment).
  • Ability to work effectively in a high workload environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Cultural understanding.
